Caffeine Crawl 2024 Blending Competition Winner Battles’ Kickstart Blend

Since starting in Kansas City 2011, The Caffeine Crawl has been bringing together coffee lovers to tour the best cafes and roasteries across America.

This year we brewed up a little friendly competition with our group of Crawlers.
The idea: The Caffeine Crawl Blending Competition.

All 18 attendees on our route were invited to taste through six of our staple coffees that comprise our most beloved blends: Brazil, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Sumatra Old School, and our Washed and Natural Ethiopias.
We kept a very detailed recipe for everyone’s blend, so that our expert tasters could pick a winner.
Everyone went home with a bag. It was very exciting.
The real excitement came a few days later, when we were able to cup all the blends, and decide on the winner!

Ultimately, we unanimously chose “Blend #5” put together by Bret Battles of Marshalltown, IA. As “nerding out over coffee” is their common thread, Bret said his family reunites around the Caffeine Crawl each year as an excuse to catch up and put quality time together on the calendar. We’re so glad they did.

Bret was awarded 5 bags of his Battles’ Kickstart Blend, and bragging rights as the Blending Champion!
